Purpose

  • A highly technical role supporting the development of next generation products within the Urology and Pelvic Health Prostate Health Franchise

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical contributions to the end-to-end development of new products within Boston Scientific s Urology and Pelvic Health Prostate Health franchise
  • Partner with technical leaders to solve complex technical problems using theoretical analysis, experimentation, and problem-solving methodologies to make data-based design decisions.
  • Participate in the design process by setting design requirements, developing concepts and prototypes, characterizing performance through robust functional testing, and then iterating on those designs as required such that all requirements are met.
  • Create and maintain design control documentation required to meet Boston Scientific s Product Lifecycle Process (PLCP) requirements and support regulatory filings

Job Scope and Leveling Guidelines

  • Knowledge:
    Must possess a solid fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application to solve complex technical problems.
    Must be proficient with computer aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks or CREO.
    Experience working in a laboratory setting developing and executing mechanical testing and general knowledge of other related disciplines, such as polymer science, materials science, and manufacturing are preferred.
    Must have a general understanding of statistical analysis methodologies and their application.
  • Problem Solving:
    Capable of developing novel solutions to a variety of complex technical problems using a methodical and data-driven approach.
  • Discretion/Latitude; Supervision Received; Decision Making:
    Independent, self-starting resource able to manage their workload with minimal oversight.
    Develops and recommends technical solutions, implements solutions with guidance from more senior technical leaders.
  • Business Relationships and Project Management:
    May interact with external vendors, customers, and commercial partners.
    Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects and project planning.
  • Impact:
    Leads the technical team through the completion of complex programs and projects.

What we re looking for in you

Basic:

  • Degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering is required.
    Bachelors required; Masters preferred.
  • 2
    years product development in a product development role is required.
    Previous experience in a regulated industry such as medical devices is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, mechanisms and their application is required.
    Previous experience with the development of concepts and prototypes is preferred.
    Knowledge of materials science and selection is preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer aided design is required (SolidWorks is preferred).
  • Experience working in project lifecycle management (PLM) systems such as Windchill or Adaptiv is required.
  • Previous experience working in a mechanical lab setting conducting testing and collecting data is required.

  • Passion for learning about the relevant anatomy and pathologies, understanding clinical use scenarios and solving problems for end users
